- To provide an overview of conflicting perspectives in favour of, and opposed to, animal experiments
- To immerse participants in conflicting world views, identify common ground, and respect differences
- To identify and verbalise the individual perspectives of participants
- To confront possible recriminations and attacks on a personal level, in addition to legitimate fact-based criticism
- To encourage active, frank, self-critical and honest communication
