The professionalisation process of gender equality work at universities depends significantly on the institutional and personal understanding of the role of gender equality officers. In order to gain clarity and a professionalised understanding of one's own role, it is important to know the legal and organisational foundations as well as the current approaches to gender equality work. Moreover, we also need to reflect on and manage the norms of expectation associated with this specific role. Personal motivations also contribute significantly to the understanding of the role.
This workshop starts precisely at the point of clarifying one's own role and opens up the possibility for participants to advance and shape the professionalisation process. For this purpose, the legal basis, current gender equality approaches, norms of expectation as well as the difficult and often conflict-ridden handling of double or multiple roles as personal possibilities will be explored. In the workshop, the participants will be given useful tools to continue to reflect on their role in everyday work and thus to act professionally. The workshop therefore combines theoretical sequences with parts of self-reflection and practical methods for work in the gender equality sector.
